Pittsburgh, prepare to be more awesome, as the Awesome Foundation launches its Pittsburgh Chapter.

The Awesome Foundation grants money – cold hard cash – to people or groups with brilliant ideas, with a new project getting funded each month by chapters around the world. Pittsburgh, already a hotbed of awesomeness, is brimming with smart, passionate, creative, crazy people. Awesome Pittsburgh is going to give some of you $1000 to do something amazing. We want to hear the best ideas for making Pittsburgh stand out in the global economy, for connecting our communities, for celebrating art or technology, for making the city a better place to live, work, and play, or for simply surprising and delighting us and our fellow Pittsburghers.

We’re still pulling together the  team to make this happen and will announce the first grant cycle within the next couple of months. In the meantime, check out the national site and find out what awesome projects have already been funded by some of the other chapters.

If you already have project ideas burning inside you and you want to get them out there,  feel free to submit them now. We’ll be watching for them so that we’re ready to throw some money round when the first cycle happens!
