How to Apply

APPLY NOW! – Deadline is the 1st of every month

How:  Submit a short online application to Awesome Pittsburgh through the Awesome Foundation Submission Page. Be sure to select Pittsburgh as your chapter and tell us about your idea and a little about yourself or your organization.

When:  You can submit at any time, but we gather up all applications received by the first of each month and choose a winner from that group by the end of the month.

Who: Individuals of all ages, informal groups, organizations, social enterprises, and start-ups can apply. 

Disclaimer: The Awesome Pittsburgh Trustees are an unincorporated group of donors trying to forward the awesomeness of the Pittsburgh region. Like you, we’re acting with the best intentions. By applying for an Awesome Pittsburgh grant, you agree to bear the full responsibility of any unlikely problems that arise, even if those problems include harm to you, someone else, or the community. And, you agree not to ruin our good faith in each other by taking any legal or financial actions against us or helping others to do so. But you likely knew all this already because you’re a responsible, awesome person. And, lawsuits, contracts, insurance claims, and other administrative clauses often aren’t very awesome.

  • Watch this blog or follow us on Twitter for information. We’ll announce award winners and proposal deadlines here and via Twitter each month.
  • Check out what other chapters are up to.  The Awesome Foundation has funded a wide variety of projects around the world. Projects range across a wide spectrum, from public artwork to mobile applications to scientific experiments. You learn more about winners at the ever-changing front page of the international site.
  • Reach out to us. Contact us via email to tell us about yourself or ask any questions about Awesome Pittsburgh. Awesome Pittsburgh is evolving into a community of people with diverse interests who also share a passion for doing great things in this amazing city. The more connections that emerge from this effort, the better!

The Pittsburgh chapter of the Awesome Foundation provides a monthly $1,000 grant to fund just about anything that could be described as awesome. The grant program started in 2011 and has funded everything from a computer programming class for junior high school kids, a cultural series that mixes cupcakes with Asian culture to a group of knitters looking to turn an area bridge into a yarn bomb art exhibit.
