About Us

Pittsburgh, prepare to increase your awesomeness, $1,000 at a time.

Awesome Pittsburgh is a chapter of the Awesome Foundation, a global network of people devoted to forwarding the interest of awesomeness in the universe. The Awesome Foundation grants money – cold hard cash with no strings attached – to people or groups with brilliant ideas. Chapters around the world fund new projects every month.

Pittsburgh, already a hotbed of awesomeness, is brimming with smart, passionate, creative, crazy people. Awesome Pittsburgh’s team of trustees wants to give some of you $1000 to do something amazing. We want to hear your best ideas for making the Pittsburgh region stand out in the global economy, for connecting our communities, for celebrating art or technology, for making the community a better place to live, work, and play, or for simply surprising and delighting your fellow Pittsburghers.

If you have a project idea burning inside you, find out how to apply and get your submission to us by the next funding cycle (deadline is the 1st of each month).

I have a sewing machine that I would like to donate, but I would need to have it picked up. Is that possible?

    Hi Awesome Pittsburgh!

We have our first major event coming up in August and we really need a grant for it!

My name is Jen Forsyth and I am the President of a new nonprofit called Donate Local Pittsburgh. Our mission is to find and promote local charities around the Pittsburgh area and get people to patronize them and donate to them, as they rely more heavily on support and donations than national organizations.

Anyway, we are partnering with Parents In Toto Autism Resource Center out of Zelienople to hold Get On Board With Autism. We are bringing a great group of guys in from Central PA who specialize in teaching kids on the spectrum how to skateboard. The event is being help August 10 at the skate park in Cranberry Township.

We need funding to help Get On Board with overnight expenses, refreshments, and other things for the event, and we are trying to get grants first. I have tried for June and will try for July and August for get the Awesome Pittsburgh grant. But I did see on your site to contact you guys and tell more about our projects, so I’m doing just that.

This is going to be an amazing event. We would love to have you guys there. Please help us make it happen!
